Kodi 17 - PVR add-on couldn't be loaded

Post by Oknerodis »

Kodi 17.0.0.R3

Step by step scenario:
- Open Kodi
- TV -> Enter add-on browser
- Try to enable the "PVR IPTV Simple Client 2.4.8 by nightik"

Result: Add-on couldn't be loaded. Check the log for more information about this message.

I am not sure where I should check log file. There are not any info in the System -> Event log.

I tried to install others PVR add-on, but the result is the same.
Additionally, I see that "PVR service" is gray in the System -> System info.

Please help to solve this issue!
Thank you!

I opened a ticket with Asustor and they said they were able to duplicate the problem and are working on a fix but no eta was given. They offered to help me downgrade my Kodi version but I am starting to wonder if I made a mistake buying this system. My system is a 5004T.

Thank you for you help! My system is the AS6202T.
Is it possible to install the previous version of kodi (16.0)? In App Central I can see onle v17.0.
I will report them about this issue too, I hope it helps them to increase priority of this task.

I would include that request on your support ticket. It probably won't be easy because I believe more than one application have to be downgraded to be compatible with the previous version of Kodi. On my support ticket they did offer to help me downgrade.

I was able to downgrade to KODI 16.
The support team provided me archive with the old version of apps.
Unfortunately, I still have no info when the issue will be fixed for KODI 17, but I am glad that workaround exists.

This addon distributed with the Kodi installation, but in Asustor case it is not included in the `packages` directory. I was able to install it by compiling the addon from the source and then from Kodi installing from ZIP archive. Works great. I'm attaching the compiled addon.

Thanks for sharing your work. This thread, I believe, is about the NextPVR plugin, not the IPTV plugin.

@Oknerodis clearly mentioned that he was trying to install "PVR IPTV Simple Client 2.4.8 by nightik"

My apologies. You are correct. However, the same problem applies to the NextPVR plugin.

Will this add-on linked above allow me to connect to my IPTV server provider? I just installed Kodi and will be connecting the NAS to my TV via HDMI. Up until now, I've been using an Android Box for IPTV and Plex but considering moving it to another bedroom and simply connecting my NAS to the TV.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks
