CEC Adaptor

Post by foggy69 »

After my AS6204T had been updated to run Kodi 17, my Pulse-Eight CEC Adaptor has stopped working.
I have tried uninstalling all the apps and then re-installing the latest versions, including the Media Pack
I still get the text box come up when Kodi starts stating that the Adaptor is connecting to the adaptor and the TV, but the remote does not work.

I cannot help because I don't own the adaptor. You should send a support request to asustor. https://support.asustor.com/

If (in complement or waiting for Asustor support) you want some advice, please provide kodi.log
... if Asustor don't compile it with "debug" option, you can add more info by changing advancedsettings.xml (Kodi wiki)
... in kodi.log you can obtain information
... also a good idea is to put here the result of dmesg command ... to verify that ADM recognize the Pule-Eight ... and map it correctly without error due to cdc_acm kernel module.

Sorry I can't run a test myself, I use my own kodi17 (mykodi17 17.1) ... canceled for other when Asustor out it's own version (no duplicate) ... so not the same context ...

Philippe.

A copy of the kodi.log is here
http://paste.ubuntu.com/24366453/

This is output from the dmesg command, I have removed the first 50 or so lines of the output to keep under the maximum number of characters allowed

Re: CEC Adaptor

Post by father.mande »

Hi,

Attach file ;.. it's better than copy on post ...
dmesg :
only the part regarding CEC adapter is need ... and all seem correct (but I can't know the version of module used by Asustor)
Kodi.log
error is clear ... response send by tv ... failed ...

So only support can run a debug on libcec4
... the change compare to kodi16 is the use of libcec4 vs libcec3 ... so if they work before ... lot of chance that problem come with lincec4 (mandatory for kodi17)

Philippe.

Thank you for your help Philippe.

After more testing, I found that the CEC adaptor would work in all HDMI sockets on my Panasonic TV using Kodi 16.
Using Kodi 17, it would only work with the HDMI 1 socket. No settings no the TV were changed.

Is your HDMI 1 is the HDMI with ARC support ? (just for my information to check change in libcec4)
or if this entry are something special ? (DVI compatible, etc.)
or reverse if 2,3 and up to number of HDMI entry ... have somethings added or restricted versus HDMI 1

Philippe.
NB nothing urgent ... only if I can return information to kodi team or libcec dev.

The TV is a Panasonic TX-L37D25.
According to the manual, the only difference between HDMI connections is that HDMI 2 has the Audio Return Channel. HDMI 1 is recomended to be connected to a Cable/Set Top Box, but gives no reason why.
Otherwise, the specifications for HDMI 1 to 4 are Version 1.4 with Content Type, and 1.3a with Deep Colour. The TV supports HDAVI Control 5 function.
DVI connections can be made to all HDMI connections.

Now I have got the CEC adaptor working under Kodi 17, it has bought up another problem that did not exist with Kodi 16

When using my Panasonic TV remote, pressing any button will sometimes send the command twice. It appears that it is an old problem with a fix listed on this website.

https://github.com/chbmuc/xbmc/commit/6 ... c8cf3a38e2

I am new to Linux and have been searching using putty and filezilla for the folder mentioned, or any peripheral folder in the kodi folders without success, can anybody point me in the right direction

Here is a kodi log of the issue

Hi,

As I know ... no setting exist for this (time-stamp for key pressed)

The post (2014) you put as reference is for old (all is relative) kodi version with libcec.3 ... Kodi17 use now libcec.4
AND it's not in the official Xbmc github but in a fork ...
AND at all even it's possible to add this ... it's in the source code ... so only Asustor (call support) can do it ... kodi is open source BUT Asustor don't provide full environment and shell to rebuild it yourself (one reason for my own port before)

You can also post on Kodi forum directly and why not open a bug ... so you can have a response ... to send after to Asustor developer ...
if it's not you that post this ... a reported bug exist seem on the same problem Panasonic libcec repeat key on kodi 17.0 :
http://trac.kodi.tv/ticket/17409
