It seems that most NAS devices dont meet the minimum requirments of gitlab

Actually, the minimum requirements are 1 GB of memory and 3 GB of swap. Swap can be easily added as long as you have hard drive space for it, and many Asustor models to seem to have AT LEAST 1 GB of memory.

I'm interested also of adding GitLab, other than adding Git from the App Central, activating SSH and hacking something away there, I didn't have much luck. I'd appreciate if anyone had pointers on how to go about doing it, and in the mean time I'm thinking I'll just read up on the developer central (and use the commandline git for that time)

Hey jkarkkainen,

I've added a thread under the Feature Requests Topic requesting ssh access for git as I have also struggled with hacking around (mostly with sshd_configs).

It'd be useful to let Asustor know that I'm not the only one asking for this.
