2-step verification on user adm, how it works?

After exploring ADM, I found this function finally. You can turn on / off this 2-step verification under ADM -> top-right corner menu -> Settings -> Enable 2-step verification.

Hello Durbin,

You need to install the Google authenticator on your smartphone. It will sync with the Nas if you add a new account.

The app Authy is a better choice, allows for more then one device to sync codes.

2-step works perfect,

Only root ssh stops working when 2-step is enabled, any solution on this?

Winscp and putty (don't know which versions I'm running, but it should also work in the latest and greatest version) have no problem with 2-factor. First the password and then the verification code (tested with the admin and root account).

Thank you for your reply, you are right, this works.
I send files from webmin server to NAS using root account by crontask for daily backup and extract log files. unfortunately I cannot use this automatic script connect to my NAS with 2-factor enabled. Or is it possible to use 2-factor only for ADM login?

I suppose the client needs to support the 2factor authentication. Maybe there is an updated client for the script. I'm afraid it won't work without a client app supporting 2factor.
