multiple SCSI disk arrays and multiple storage volumes ?

Post by audiophile »

(1) Is the Asustor NAS OS capable of creating multiple SCSI disk arrays? This would come into question preferably at the 4+ disks NAS boxes.

(2) Is the Asustor NAS OS capable of creating multiple storage volumes across the disk array(s):
(2a) Creation of more than one storage volume on one disk array
(2b) Creation of a storage volume across more than one disk array

What about the same (2a-b) but *extension* instrad of *creation*?

Thanks for clarification.

Hi audiophile,

(1) Is the Asustor NAS OS capable of creating multiple SCSI disk arrays? This would come into question preferably at the 4+ disks NAS boxes.

ASUSTOR NAS is capable of creating multiple SCSI disk array.
e.g.
At AS-604T, I can configure 2 x HDD in RAID 0 and 2 X HDD in RAID 1

(2) Is the Asustor NAS OS capable of creating multiple storage volumes across the disk array(s):
(2a) Creation of more than one storage volume on one disk array
(2b) Creation of a storage volume across more than one disk array

What about the same (2a-b) but *extension* instrad of *creation*?

Regarding the questions above, the answer is no, once the disk array is created, the storage volume will be also created automatically. there is no more settings to configure storage volume .
e.g.
At AS-604T, if I configure 2 x HDD in RAID 0 and 2 X HDD in RAID 1, I will have two strorage volume "Volume 1" & "Volume 2" automatically.
