Hi guys,
I'm using a 5002T...
I would appreciate any pointers you could give me to get the minecraft server going. My kids would love to be able to connect to our server with their Ipads. Play with the server
settings/install mods.
I played around with the minecraft server...but never got it working.
0- used the 'shell in a box' tool in Asustor/ADM2.4, to get root access using the admin password.
1- at some point I was able to execute ./start-stop start, and everything would load until the port...it would say port 25565 already in use (don't remember the exact default port name).
2- then I went in the minecraft server setup and changed the port #. (25555 for example)
3- the server started all ok....no port errors
4- I could never connect with the ipads to it using the ip address of the NAS and port 25555.
questions:
a- what is the apk to use if the asustor one is no good?
b- can I change the default port?
c- is it as easy as loggin in 'shell in a box', then ./start-stop start , then exit the telnet session and it runs forever, until I telnet again and do a ./start-stop stop?
Or I need more unix scripts or even a unix utility called 'screen' (saw that from another site)
Any help guys would be appreciated.

Sounds like minecraftserver is working finr (on your custom port), but if you are tying to connect ipads, these run mincrecraft Pocket edition and therefore are not compatible with minecraft server.
try running minecraft client on a PC and see if you can connect to the server.

I might have done it backwards, how ever it worked. I Installed Minecraft server software, got my kid to join by enter cloud-connect adress and then downloaded server.properties from home folder. I renamed it to server.properties.txt and manually configured the file. After I saved i renamed it back to server.properties and uploaded it to the home folder.
