Minecraft Server

Minecraft is a sandbox construction game, inspired by Infiniminer, Dwarf Fortress and Dungeon Keeper, created by Markus Persson, the founder of Mojang AB. The game involves players placing and breaking various types of blocks in a three-dimensional environment. The player takes on an avatar that can break and place blocks, forming fantastic structures, creations, and artwork, on multiplayer servers and singleplayer worlds across multiple game modes.

Minecraft Server

Post by zakspop »

I installed the Minecraft server on my NAS but I don't see any instructions on how to configure it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

By default, this should install and run fine. You should be able to connect to it from your minecraft client.

If you want to edit any of the configuration, all files are linked into the "Public" share in a folder called "minecraft_server"
Just go to Public/minecraft_server and edit server.properties, banned-ips, banned-players, whitelist etc as needed.
There is also a logs folder so you can see what is going on, what ports are being used etc...

The minecraft_server in the public folder doesn't appear to be a folder. It has an an extension of a dot. and if I click on it in File Explorer it downloads a file minecraft_server.txt to my computer. I'm going to try to re-install it.

Nope! Still the same. A 38 byte file with a . as an extension. But my Mac sees it as a folder but I can't open it because of permissions.
See attachment.

ok, I'll check out the permissions issue.
This is supposed to be accessed via network share, not file explorer.

What user do you connect to your share as from your mac?
if you login as admin you should be able to access this folder.

I login as admin. I uninstalled minecraft, created the folder in File Manager and re-installed. I was able to connect one time and played about 45 seconds and then was booted. I was never able to re-connect. Also the folder stayed empty. No level info etc. Where are the maps stored? I want to upload my own maps and install mods. I do this on the Mac and PCs with no problem. I'm not very good with Linux folder structure. It looks hap-hazard to me.

Please try a manual install of this version https://www.dropbox.com/s/xpvlhzw9qr6tg ... y.apk?dl=0 and let me know how this goes.

If this works for you I'll submit to App Central.

Yes, it has the files in the folder now. Unfortunately, my 202TE appears to be a little too slow to run it at any acceptable speed. I got on the server but when I break a block it reappears for about 5 seconds before it just disappears for good. So I'd start breaking a block a second time then it would go away and I could then pick it up. I ran it for a few minutes then it kicked me off again. I'll just run a dedicated server on an old P4 I have setting around. MineOS is an easy setup for that. Thanks for the effort. Maybe the faster 6 series might run it better.

Much thanks Clinton for porting. I've installed the apk release 20141207 via app central but can't connect to the server via MCPE. I get the "Unable to connect to world" message. Is the server port the standard 19132? Any other suggestions?
