[Kodi 18.7] Support ASUSTOR x86-64 models with HDMI

Does anyone know if 4k HDR via HDMI is supported by any app available on AS5202T/AS5304T?

It doesn't seem to work with KODI 18.7

Hello,

Kodi 18.7 package is ready for installing and testing, the major feature of this version should be BD iso playback supported.

This package can be installed on ASUSTOR x86-64 models which have Xorg 10.14.8.R107 or above supported.
(AS-6xx and the models without HDMI cannot install Kodi.)

The playback capability should be the same with kodi 18.0 for difference ASUSTOR models, 4K HEVC 10bits HW decode still works in AS5202T/AS5304T and new models AS6602T/AS6604T.

Notes:
The main control page of the BD iso (chapter list) cannot be controlled by ASUSTOR remote controller, please use mouse or AiRemote touch pad to control it.

So, did you change audio setting to HDMI pass-through mode? And does it not work?

No, sound immediately disappears when I switch to pass-through mode.
Is this kodi app use pulseaudio or alsa driver ?
If pulseaudio pass-trough is not possible. this work only with alsa driver.

Pass-through can be used also with pulse audio but require a correct configuration :

Passthrough Mode Used if you want to passthrough (bitstream) AC3, DTS, and EAC3 to an AVR or other device. In order to allow passthrough to work with PulseAudio then it MUST be set to use a 2.0 channel configuration, despite the 2.0 setting this will still allow 5.1 audio from AC3, DTS, and EAC3.

Note: PulseAudio does not currently allow TrueHD or DTS-MA passthrough, this is a PulseAudio limitation and not a limitation of the Kodi implementation, in order to get 7.1 audio Multichannel Mode must be used

I don't use Kodi from Asportal, only Kodi 18 or 19 through myHD ... so I can only confirm that pass-through run as well with the correct configuration.
I can't help you for this APKG.

I figure it - simply use your apkg MH_kodi 19 -but you must upgrade it it is NOT kodi 19 is 18.3. I manualny add nighty repo and upgrade it. And now passtrough works.

Sorry, I know this problem ... but forgot to solve it (due to my long unavailability) in next release, I use only ONE MH-Kodi and change icon depends of the kodi installed.

Hi Philippe,

First of all Many thanks to provide us with a 1 click solution for Kodi.
I'm quite foreigner to linux so this helps a lot and worked without anything extra need to do. Just download the apk and installed via ADM APP central without a problem.

Now my question for help.
I'm running the release on a AS5202T but I'm unable to make the passthrough audio work. I read Yaba234 posts and really can't understand where I can find and download the myHD or even how to get access to the console in the nas. Maybe the solution is something too complex for my poor understanding of linux, or maybe you have a solution for it?

You mention that you run kodi in myhd with passthrough , so maybe it can't run with ADM like that?

Hopefully you can help me... if not, still many thanks for what you did already. I was really super disappointed with Asustor of selling the nimbustor as a direct video player 4k via HDMI:


That as today is a LIE if is not for your implementation of KODI.
I really find that a super poor and cheap move. (form asustor)

myHD app you find in this forum. First install it, after install MH_kodi and voila ! It is only solution for enable passtrough over HDMI in Austor stuff.
