[Kodi 18.1 & Kodi 17.6] in myHD based on official Ubuntu version

Post by father.mande »

Hi,

F.Y.I.

Last version of Kodi18 (18.1) and Kodi17 (17.6) are available through new APKG (myHD and companion APKG)

Please read topics in this forum.

Does this support full lossless 4K playback with Dolby and DTS?

Hi,

I have only ONE NAS with HDMI output and NO 4k monitor .

The support depend of your NAS model
The easy way to known what sort of video is accelerated is to used : vainfo
... vainfo provide you information on acceleration if available and profile (for ex. HEVC (x265) is supported ONLY with "main" (8 bits profile) ... so all 10 bits profile can't be accelerated)
... without hardware acceleration you have few chance to run as well.
4K can be encoded in x264, x265 (HEVC) or VP8 for ex.

4k must be supported by your I.G.P. (so this also depend of model)
... xrandr can list to you the resolution supported

Last remember that media player consume memory and CPU ... so don't overload your NAS and increase memory size if needed.

Kodi18 (and 17) support pass-through for playing with an AVR Dolby and DTS (I have a small HDMI audio extractor combined to a small Dolby/DTS decoder ... so I can confirm (with correct configuration) that all works as expected.

Before installing myHD you can verify the result of previous command directly from A.D.M. and Xorg doing :

Code: Select all

Hi father,
Since you closed your own website, I can not found a way to get your kodi 18 APKG for my QNAP NAS(I konw this for ASUSTOR NAS, it worked on QNAP too.)
Last time I made a mistake and deleted the kodi without backup. I search via google but that app was really different than I download on your website.
So, I want to know how can I get kodi 18 APKG and where ?
thx you for working on these apps, it's cool.

I don't think it's the good place to discuss about QPKG (QNAP package)
... as I write before closing all and remove all ... , even if I have good relationship with QNAP's Taiwan guy's, ... QNAP have decide to get the hands on all QPKG development with a specific integrator supported and sponsored by QNAP and member of the QNAP support team in QNAP company.
This kind of people are unfortunately (for QNAP), also, dishonest ...
So it's not my choice ... I will continue to help people (on QNAP official forum) on QNAP BUT only on basic delivery out of any unofficial QPKG ... and never use some regional forum that encourage bad practice for increasing advertising publicity ...

So please, post in QNAP Forum and wait, sure somebody can help you or propose and alternate solution ... I am only a user (like you), I don't win anything for sharing my small experience and my small integration ... and I don't want to have any battle against QNAP no more against Asustor.

Philippe.
