How remove harddrives?

Post by sonicfifi75 »

Hi all

My issue. How remove extra drives?

My NAS AS5104T (latest ADM)
Run 2x wd reds in raid0 and added 2x SSD to try cache...

I disabled the Volume1 cache and SSD was written to HDD..i slide both SSD out and all looks cool...until reboot

Then NAS startsup and asks me if i want init NAS..other option is powerdown..

If i put those 2x SSD back in and reboot ... NAS boots up fine...

2x SSD are inactive in ADM... what is happening here??????

As test..tried couple times.. 1 SSD is out.. but no luck with the last SSD...So if i want bootable system..i need have SSD (inactive) or no boot...

it Must be a bug..or I've totally missed something

Thanks in advance

Definitely looks like a bug, suggest you open a ticket https://support.asustor.com/.

Ticket created. Lets see

I have also Qnap and 2x Buffalo NAS.. never experienced that on them :)

And WD reds are overrrated or yet another bug in adm. Last week the NAS reported Pendings Sectors.. Took drives out , put in a PC (SMART reported all good - no pending sectors etc), reformat and back in Asustor..no issues since. When looking back..seems like ADM bug, but i was crazy listening to beeeep sounds :D

btw Cache is fine on NAS, but atm my issues is my gigalan. I max my lan on workstations, even without LAG. My switches can LAG, but workstation dont lol. Beeing not the youngest dude, i recall running Doom on coax LAN from DOS.. In my wildest dreams, i could not predict that LAN cables/cards would be bottleneck :D
