replacing all HDD

Post by Stik »

I want to replace all my HDD in my NAS. All my data is backed up so that is not an issue.
Do I just remove the old drives and fit the new drives as if its a brand new unit?
or is there something else I should do to reset the NAS?

If you backup all of your data externally, yes, simply turn NAS off, replace all disks, turn NAS on, follow the setup wizard.

another question.
If I backup .@plugins and install the apps on my new drives then over write .@plugins will all be back as it was, with a few exceptions like folder locations but I can fix that

I think it depends. If there are some configurations stored onto database, you won't be able to restore them by this way.
If you want to preserve your application, I think you should follow the recommended method: https://www.asustor.com/en-gb/online/Co ... ?topic=352
