PROBLEM AS5002T dead mother card according to Asustor
Hello
I create this topic just for statistical purposes, to find out how many AS5002T owners have seen their device pass hs with the following symptoms:
- network leds and disk rack leds lit (if network connected and if disk inserted)
- the 2 green and blue LEDs in the upper left corner remain off.
- the fan no longer rotates.
-the green USB LED lights up when I press the USB button lower left angle.
Problem certainly already recurring several cases in France in a few days.
https://www.forum-nas.fr/threads/posses ... ici.18511/
This is a known problem of asustor.
Asustor states that the mother cards are dead but some users think that the DOM module attached to the motherboard has a defect in time after 5 to 7 years.
Have users found a solution to this problem?

I believe it (FAN does not rotate) is caused by main board failure. It should not be caused by DOM.archi777 wrote: - the fan no longer rotates.

Hi,
Please check if BIOS can be open ... if not DOM is not the problem but perhaps power (try to test with an alternate power block from another system .(12V/5A if I remember (I am out)) but less Amp. is enough to test without disks. Don't forgot to test the motherboard battery or change it
If BIOS is accessible, try to boot from an USB stick with a Linux (like Ubuntu) ... so NO DOM for booting, visible after as a disk ... somewhere in the forum you have some explain about this (one of my message and others)
... to do this you can have a keyboard and a screen connected.
Also check that NO USB devices are connected especially on USB 3 plug (except keyboard on USB 2) ... a power failure can exist on USB 3 controller.
It's too late to remember rules for NAS when temperature is very hot ... so ...
Philippe.

I got the problem end 2021. I first thought fan was broken because not rotating anymore.
I bought an other fan, and this one is rotating slowly.
just to say that there is still power on fan outputs but not enough to supply original fan.

Hello
thank you for your reply.
I don't have access to the bios.
The fan has been disassembled and tested.
I changed the power supply 12V 5A without result.
The motherboard battery was replaced to no avail.
On the other hand I did not manage to locate the EPROM on the motherboard.
I think it's on the ADATA module attached to the motherboard and extractable.

That's a good point regarding to FAN failure. However, if it's the case, NAS can still boot-up and work (and NAS should make beep sound continuously). So I believe it's caused by main board failure.

Hi orion
And thank you for your answer.
I do not have a beep at the ignition which directs me to a problem of corrupt bios or EPRON deprogrammed or defective.
Otherwise, have other people had their flawed NAS 5002T?

No matter BIOS, EEPROM or other chips, those belong to main board. I think you have no choice but contact to asustor to fix your main board.archi777 wrote:Hi orion

hello orion,
you are right if the chip is on the motherboard.
But I think the faulty chip is on a non-stick module.
I'm waiting for a NAS 5002 to test my hypothesis

Hello
I was away for the last few days.
I received my used AS 5002T, it works perfectly.
On the other hand I disassembled it and recovered the adata card that I transferred to my defective NAS.
UNFORTUNATELY THE ADATA CARD DID NOT ALLOW TO OPERATE THE FAULTY NAS THE PROBLEM COMES FROM THE MOTHERBOARD
this hypothesis of a defective adata card deserved to be verified
It is therefore necessary to dig elsewhere.
