Added a new drive = two single drives

Post by idiamin »

This is probably a stupid question, but I can't find an explanation anywhere.

I always used my AS5002T with just one disk. Single volume, 4TB.
Then I finally added a second one, 10TB, not intending to use it in RAID.

The wizard only gave me the option to create the new volume as Single. I picked it.
Now I have two Single volumes and no options to change anything. Would that mean that JBOD is in place?

I can't use the second volume. File Explorer looks exactly the same as before.
I wonder if it's just waiting for the first disk to fill before it starts using the second?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

No it's not JBOD. You'll need to add shares to the new volume2.
AS5304T - 16GB DDR4 - ADM-OS modded on 2GB RAM
Internal:
- 4x10TB Toshiba RAID10 Ext4-Journal=Off
External 5 Bay USB3:
- 4x2TB Seagate modded RAID0 Btrfs-Compression
- 480GB Intel SSD for modded dm-cache (initramfs auto update patch) and Apps

Oh, through Access Control? I get it now, many thanks!
I can live with that, but just so I understand, is any RAID or JBOD configuration out of question at this point given the current status (see picture below)?
I find funny that I had no option to choose.

You only have the option to convert disk 1 to raid 1 but you'll need to reinitialize disk 2 and go through the advanced wizard but don't think you want to waste your 10tb as the raid 1 will result to only 4tb size which is smallest of the array. JBOD spanning can only be done from scratch.
