Left to spend some time with the GF today, and when I came home, saw Father_Mande's post about running PMP in the HX_Engine.
Thought to give a try, until I realized that ASPortal was no longer running, nor able to start. Removed HX_Engine, PMP, Remote, and Node.JS and still can't get it to start. Error code ref is 1.
Need to know what to do about fixing this. I have apps I use on the HX_Engine that need to be able to run, but can no longer get to them.

Re: Asustor Portal V 2.0.3.r0825 not starting
Hi,
Even in any case I can't replace the helpdesk ...
1 ) verify in Xorg log thet in not due to an error in Xorg
/usr/local/AppCentral/xorg/var/log
2 ) have a look to asportal log (Evilwm based)
/usr/local/AppCentral/asportal/server/log
Also it's not really mandatory to remove (uninstall) APKG
... you can just disabling it
... if you want only to don't manage it by asportal ... rename the asportal in APKG directory
ex. /usr/local/AppCentral/hx-engine/ ... just rename asportal folder and do a relaod of asportal
/usr/local/AppCentral/asportal/CONTROL/start-stop.sh reload
For hx-engine ... if you Enable it when asportal is NOT started BUT Xorg YES ... hx-engine start the desktop directly without passing through the asportal icons
... disable asportal
... enable xorg (normally disabled by asportal disable)
... so verify xorg is up, move mouse for ex.
... Enable hx-engine or do /usr/local/AppCentral/hx-engine/start-stop.sh start
... the Xfce desktop must be displayed (if I don't do an error ... I will test this only long time ago)
THIS IS ONLY A WORKAROUND ... if you need to keep somethings active EVEN asportal is off
Remember also that hx-engine not only run a desktop ... but also in the background an hidden Xfce desktop in a virtual Xorg server ... accessible through Vnc client on port 5999 ... or Xterm using DISPLAY=99 ... this virtual server have been created to run permanent services and server applications ... even desktop is not active ... (using for ex. autorun mechanism to avoid connecting you ...)
Not sure this help ... but it's my "My 2 cents" ...
Philippe.

Re: Asustor Portal V 2.0.3.r0825 not starting
Only one line in the /volume1/.@plugins/AppCentral/asportal/server/log/asportal-srv.log and it reads:
On the other hand X.org log has a bit more info:
Seems nothing is getting loaded. This is a complete restart, and the errors it gives. Mouse is dead, of course. And keep in mind, this is with ADM V2.6.5.R9N1.

I'm a newbie here, withAS6104T. How do I access the /usr directory? Or any of the root directory structure ?father.mande wrote: 1 ) verify in Xorg log thet in not due to an error in Xorg

I thought I'd see it in the "File Explorer" app but it's not there...

You won't see it in the File Manager built into the Web App. You need to install WinSCP (and while you're at it, PuTTY from the same place.) to access a lot of the functions and folders of your NAS. There isn't an equivalent app for OSX, so you have to run it in a windows emulator for MACs. This app is the single most important extra tool you could ever get for your NAS, but it does come with a learning curve.
