External player for iso files

Post by Pokerness »

Hi,

I would like to digitalize my DVD - Blu-ray library, the movie as well as all the bonuses.

I read on net some threads about implementing an external player in order to play iso files.

I intend to test this approach, but I have some questions about that :
  • Does it work within a remote access of media server, controlling the DVD menu and streaming each part of the iso file ?
Within Kodi, an iso file is captured as movie in the library, and it can be read locally with a complete control of the DVD menu; but this feature does not work within the web access of Kodi. What happens within Plex?

Is it possible to use the Kodi player and set it as the player of Plex ? If yes, where is it located on NAS ?

How to integrate the iso files into a library by the Plex scan ?
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

ISO is NOT supported with Plex. In any way, shape or form.

It's not a format that promotes streaming, so it's not something Plex will likely implement, either. You are better off ripping it to MP4 or MKV.
