New Plex install on Asustor - "Not authorized"

Post by plawlor15 »

Hi,

I am trying to install Plex Media Server on my Asustor AS5304T without much luck. It is running ADM 4.0.5.RTU2. I’m trying to migrate from my Windows PC to this new NAS. Here are the steps I have tried:

Using App Central, install Plex Media Server (I have also tried a manual install using the latest APK).
Ensure that administrator account (who I’m logged in as) has w/r access to new Plex shared folder that gets created by the install.
Access Plex through the NAS desktop link.
I’m asked to log into my Plex account, which I do.
Get “Not authorized. You do not have access to this server.” errors.
Read that sometimes there are issues with the NAS desktop link, so tried accessing directly (https://MYIP:32400). Using this method, I get to a Plex screen, but I’m only seeing my existing Windows Plex Server as a connection option and not this new NAS install.
Is this a permissions thing? I have tried enabling the guest account and giving it access to the Plex shared folder, but no go. Are there other folders on the NAS that need permissions tweaking besides the new Plex shared folder? I can’t find Plex assets anywhere else on the NAS outside this folder.

I’ve read in some Forum discussions that I should be seeing a new Plex user after the install? There isn’t one there. My NAS is a domain member, if that makes a difference.

I have tried many iterations of uninstall-delete Plex folder-reboot-reinstall with the exact same results every time. At least it’s consistent :). Am I missing something?

Thanks.

...and this one:
Jun 09, 2022 11:36:23.361 [0x7f9cc82a8b38] DEBUG - Request came in with unrecognized domain / IP 'nas003.millcove.net' in header Host; treating as non-local

...which looks very suspicious to me.
