XBMC add-ons broken

Currently XBMC can be used to play almost all of the popular audio and video formats around. It was designed for network playback allowing you to stream multimedia directly from your NAS via HDMI to any monitor or directly from the internet using practically any protocol available.

XBMC add-ons broken

Post by VufVuf »

I have the AS-202TE which I mostly use as media server and so far its been running very nice.

Recently I started having problems when starting movies: The first few minutes I had sound but no picture, and then later the picture would appear. I solved that with reinstalling XBMC.

But then the real trouble started. After reinstalling XBMC no add-ons work. I always have subtitles on when watching movies so that's annoying. Under add-ons the XBMC.org repository is empty and I have tried everything to fix it:

Installing by zip file doesn't work as it gives me an error so I cannot download a repository and fix it that way.

I went in by ssh to delete "Addon15.db". Read somewhere that it might fix it, but no.

I finally tried to restore to factory settings - delete everything on the NAS, but that didn't fix the problem either.

Anyone got a clue whats wrong?

I have the same problem, not sure if it's to do with Kodi being the main runner now and XBMC taking a back seat. I have posted on here a few times with other problems and got no luck with it.
May be with it being a verified App we may get some thing done about it but don't hole your breath....sorry

I got reply from Asustor support:

First answer:
The reason of add-ons issue is XBMC version too old.
Our XBMC solutions is provided by Intel. We have already forwarded it to Intel.
Second answer:
The reason is XBMC shut down official add-on repository server.
I hope they fix it soon.

I don't expect anything from them. I am just disappointed as XBMC is listed as an "Asustor App".
