XBMC is Dead ?

Currently XBMC can be used to play almost all of the popular audio and video formats around. It was designed for network playback allowing you to stream multimedia directly from your NAS via HDMI to any monitor or directly from the internet using practically any protocol available.

XBMC is Dead ?

Post by Zwanzig »

a lot of mistakes and none updates..............
AS202TE probably is too weak to provide the infrastructure needed media center.

- Sometimes switches off and returns to the Portal
- Shows the bad time ending movie
- After a pause is not synchronized sound with the picture
- Can not I stop Subtitle default, you have to do to each film
- Does not show the name and language soundtrack and subtitles? (Only track1 ... etc),
as I have more audio tracks I have to listen to every piece of trafic for good and then scroll to the start.
But here already show up timing problem.
- Sometimes you been switched off movie - sound flies farther and need to restart XBMC
- Very slow browsing library, posters show up after a few seconds
- At the forward or the back sometimes lose control and you can not stop
- And any messages about bugs in which appeared after the last update of ADM

still want to try to install again, but needs the answer to my post

XBMC is dead!

Last year it changed name to KODI and since earlier today a few Asustore NAS supports KODI.

Lets hope all the others soon follow
AS-604T (3GB RAM) with 4*WD Red 2TB in RAID5
Not the HTPC I thought I bought!
I wonder when Asustor is gonna throw some ressources/manpower/knowledge getting it to work, we did pay a decent amount of money for this - for the moment piece of furniture!

Uh, how are you going to store your llibrary on a Fire? It's not got enough storage to even consider for soeone with even a half serious library.

I'm running over 28T worth of storage on my 7004T and using Plex and can even stream to a Fire with it. Hell I ws doing that with a 202T when the media was set up correctly.

Your call, I guess....

I too am sad at the recent developments (or lack thereof) around Asustor and XBMC. I have had the AS302T for around 2 years. Mainly purchased as a media server with the hdmi out being a big pull factor due to its simplicity for the whole family to use. Now however XBMC is close to useless. Frodo is so out of date and lacks support. It still works using the Plexbmc add on - one of the few add ons still available. But for how long.....?

It seems that the problem is due to the movie db scraper which has stopped supporting Frodo. I've tried downloading one of the other scrapers from the mirror Kodi website but none will install. In summary, Asustor / Intel / whoever, please help us to upgrade to Kodi or I too will be walking from Asustor.
