So almost 1 month and no firmware to fix the problem ?! With so many people reporting problems this is a shame.
I hope no new Asustor NAS were sold in this period, If I took a brand new equipment with this behavior I return it immediately.
Last weekend I had to restart my NAS by the back button because it simply stopped answering commands via app or browser

Re: Heavy process load after update
I found a lengthy thread on the nightmare that is ADM 3.4.5RBJ2 in French. 86 comments so far. https://www.forum-nas.fr/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=12599
The behaviour of Asus has been disgraceful. They are burying their head in the sand. Acknowledge this release was FUBUR. Apologise. Then tell us what you are going to do about it.
What they could do now is allow us to rollback or reinstall 3.4.4. I reset my NAS and thought it would reapply 3.4.4 given that that is the version on Asustor servers. But I'm still on 3.4.5 minus data (though I have backed it up).
I really should have gone with Synology the market leaders. And now I will because I am starting over with fresh drives.

Re: Heavy process load after update
Do you mean that this package (viewtopic.php?f=240&t=10717) cannot solve this problem? It seems that no one in this forum reported it. If you did not try it yet, you should give it a try.JimFoster wrote:I found a lengthy thread on the nightmare that is ADM 3.4.5RBJ2 in French. 86 comments so far. https://www.forum-nas.fr/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=12599

I updated my AS3202T a few minutes ago and the issues
apparently seems to have been resolved. I will monitor for the next few hours.
Merry Christmas everyone.

Well, after 4h of uptime and trivial use everything is working fine in here.
I hope the other colleagues have their problems solved tooADM 3.4.6.RCO3 ( 2019-12-25 )

Question
Why would I need or want "photos and thumbnails resized and converted" I don't want anything messing with my photos or files.
I only use my unit as a NAS only, I run no apps, this is used as a mapped network drive only.
This worries me.
I got the patch that stops this and may not ever update again.

If it's true ("I only use my unit as a NAS only, I run no apps, this is used as a mapped network drive only."), you can disable it. However, do you use ADM web pages? That action violates your statement.dbkelly wrote:Question

Re: Heavy process load after update
Wow just noticed mine a whopping 4.8TB!rauhe wrote:Some has noted that the generated thumbnails are stored in "/volume1/.@thumbnail". Just for fun I tried checking size of this folder and got the result "1.2T" (see below)Can anybody tell me what this means? I don't seem to miss 1.2TB of my overall storage.
Also seems they've introduced a new thumbnail bug in the latest 3.4.6.RDF3 or ADM prior to this which I didn't noticed earlier. For those who's using the AiData mobile app, you'll notice if you browse and open a certain video file that I believe hasn't had the thumbnail generated, the preview gear will keep on spinning endlessly at the same time incrementally spawning off many of these processes every few seconds which will make the system crawl! Some of the old process will eventually turned zombie state. And this is only for one video file. I had few users remotely watching videos today, noticed the system is that less responsive never like before. Logged into the shell and saw lots of these. Terminated them using killall download.cgi and the system returns normal.
