Asustor Download Center is based on Transmission. I believe there are posts in these forums regarding using transmission tools to connect to download center
http://forum.asustor.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=2572

bittorrent sync is just a tool to sync files between multiple computers using the torrent network... it is not used to download torrents.

Hi Clinton,
There is a newer version of Bittrorrent Sync i.e. v 1.2.82.
Can you pls make this available upgrade in AppCentral? Or better yet, can you pls provide a step-by-step guide with the *tar.gz native file uploaded into the system using SSH, just like what @maxani did?

thanks a bunch

New Version has been submitted to App Central (will take a while to get put in)...

If you want to test this, you can do a manual install after downloading from here https://www.dropbox.com/s/dvzya1dpm34hx ... 05_any.apk

Hello Clinton,
I have successfully installed BitTorrent Sync v1.2.82 using the APK package download (Dropbox).
The updated BitTorrent Sync is working great!

Many thanks.

How on earth do I make this secure? Seriously, I could browse the entire NAS without much trouble, and any and all users on my NAS with access to this app can simply see any secret or folder synced, it's completely targeted at 1 admin-user. And even then, access is not TLS/SSL.

Yo Asustor, how could you even allow this on your NAS? It's asking for remote exploiting the entire NAS!

If anyone can give me proper access to its config file, so I can create more users and limit their access to certain folders, fine, but as it stands, it's yet another HORRIBLY insecure app.

This needs to be edited in /usr/local/AppCentral/bt-sync/config/sync.conf
So how does a NAS-admin get there?

Well based on your previous comment the entire NAS is exposed and insecure... So accessing this file should be pretty easy.

At the end of the day this is just a 3rd party App for those who wan to sync files from their NAS to another system location. This may not be the best for anyone with multiple users etc, but for someone who simply has a NAS in their home, no issues.
