Neither UPnP v1 or v2 works AIFF or Sleep issues

The UPnP Media Server V2 App can turn your NAS into your home's multimedia streaming server.
As long as you have devices that support UPnP or DLNA (for example, SONY BRAVIA TV, SAMSUNG TV or PlayStation 3),
you can directly browse and stream the media files stored on your NAS.

Neither UPnP v1 or v2 works AIFF or Sleep issues

Post by dproff »

I brought this up with Asus technical support but got no fix. I thought I'd try here to see if anyone has had similar experiences.

Here is what I found with my Asus NAS and my Sony UDP-X800 blu-ray player which I want to use for high definition audio files:

1) UPnP Media Server 2 does not present playable files to the X800. When you select any folder with aiff audio files, the Sony says "no playable media found".
2) UPnP Media Server 1 works and aiff audio files are no problem. They are seen and play fine. However ...

3) UPnP2 allows the NAS to enter sleep modes defined in the energy settings
4) UPnP1 does not allow the NAS to sleep
5) UPnP minidlna app does not work at all with the Sony player

While I understand that the Sony player could be part of the problem, that does not explain why the UPnP utility works so differently between V1 and V2. I need the working parts of both.

Can anyone offer another possible way to get UPnP1 or 2 fixed for my Sony player?
