Can you confirm what you want? I.e. Are you trying to get a local media player to play music on your amp (over HDMI?)

The problem I have is that I have never set up an account etc for this, so I have never actually used LMS.
As i understand it, its an plugin, that you install via the LMS plugins page (when in the LMS webinterface).
so, yes i want to use a local media player to play music on my amp, via jack (nas)-->phono (amp) - as i dont have HDMI on the amp.

I can't give you access to my LMS, as i haven't setup the nas to wan access, yet - being a bit paranoid, and not absolutely sure (yet :-) how to set it up safely. But i have a link, that describes it, better than me. Also, i believe there's a link to sourcefiles for the player.

Sorry, if this isn't enough info.
ps. Have tried the players/servers available in the asustor app-store - but they just don't cut it - too unresponsive or unstable. LMS+squeezelite worked pretty much flawless on the pi, and i imagine it should/could work just as well if not faster and better on the nas, as it's more powerful.

Please let my know what i can do to help.

I have set up an account, and looking at the plugins page I don't see it.

in your previous post you said you installed it, but it wouldn't run... can you confirm how you installed it? was this via the interface, or did you copy across some files? where in the interface did you find/set this?

ok... on 604T it says it is enabled and running... but I don't know how to access it.
Once I resolve this, I can look at the 3 series.

When you launch the LMS from the nas desktop you get the lms webinterface. Once there, there should be a panel ind the upper left part of the screen, where you can choose a player.

Additionally, there is a 'settings' option in the plugins page - adjecent to the 'local player'. It is here i found the message that its not running. I have thrown my self into bed as its late in scandinavia - i will check in again tomorrow and reply if needed. Btw - Truly thanks for the effort!

Oh the FUN...

so. I have found the missing library files... and recompiled the binaries on my VM to use the correct libc version... now it runs :)

the problem is LMS can't launch this as LMS runs as admin (required for SSODS) and squeezelite needs xorg running and in order to access xorg it needs to be launched as root.
there is also a x86 v i386 issue here... but I am on top of that.

So, I can get everything to run, but I need to launch squeezlite from the start script and disable the auto-start option in LMS.
what this means is you can't set the config in LMS... and so i don't know if you can change the output device. As I read it, this will launch on "default"...

anyway, I'll try and package this as it is so that you can test :)

Hi,

Tried it, but still, player not running...thanks for the effort though, clinton.
Guess i'll have to wait for a stable XBMC release from asustor and then reinstate the pi as mediaserver/player then. :-)

With this version installed and running, can you try these codes via ssh?

Code: Select all

/usr/local/AppCentral/lms/CONTROL/starts-stop.sh restart

Code: Select all

ps | grep squeezelite

Code: Select all

/usr/local/AppCentral/lms/repository-32/squeezelite -z
for 3 series or

Code: Select all

/usr/local/AppCentral/lms/repository-32/squeezelite -z
for 6 series

Can you show the output of each of these?

Basically, I got this running on both 3 and 6 series, but as I needed to debug and manually link/set parameters, I may have missed one little details in the apkg... With these I should get some idea of what is missing.

Can you also confirm that xorg is running?

I just did a test with fresh install on 3 series and 6 series... both work fine for me.
Perhaps try removing LMS, and then do a manual install.

Also, to confirm. this will NOT show up in the plugins section, but the player should shown under the player config and also should show as an available player on the main screen.

Please download the apkg again. i had previously uploaded this same version, found a bag, then removed and re-posted (since I figured no one else was using that version). If you had downloaded this easily, you may have got the old version? Again. delete and manually install the new version should work (although you will need to run the wizard again and rescan your media library).

It is amazing - it runs and the player works....kinda..;-) Nearly all my music is in MP3 and the only format i successfully played, was ogg vorbis.
But you are the hero of the day - no doubt! just that it runs, is more than i had hoped for :-)
