Looking for MP3-Streaming Server

Post by Nachtfalke »

Hi there,

I got my new 204-te up and running and now i am searching for an app with the following features:
  • Index all my mp3-Files in a specified folder in a database
  • Play songs by artist, album, title etc.
  • Output sound to a DLNA-device (like Windows Media Player does)
  • Control app by webinterface or smartphone app
Is there an app, that can do this? All mediaservers I tested til now only played songs if they are requested by a DLNA-client, which also plays the sound.

Hi Nachtfalke,
You can install "Soundsgood" from app central.

"UPnP Media Server" can streaming to DLNA device, and also can download from app central

Please upgrade NAS to ADM 2.1 beta, it is supported AiMusic mobile app.
You can download from ADM Beta Program: http://www.asustor.com/betaProgram

Thanks for the links. I already tried 'Soundsgood' and liked it, but couldn't find an option to route the sound to my DNLA-device (Onkyo TX-NR414). Same problem with UPnp Media Server. Is there any documentation regarding these two apps? Or would you please explain, where I can configure one of the apps to use my Onkyo AV-Receiver to play the sound?

Thanks for the help, but I got that working already on my PS3 and my AV receiver. What I want to do is to control (e.g. browse) the server from a third device like my smartphone or my notebook, but I still want to listen to the music via my AV receiver. I know that its possible in principle, cause it works with Windows Media Player. One can configure WMP to route the sound to a DNLA device. For that no action on the receiver itself is necessary. You just switch the receiver to DNLA mode and it plays whatever WMP is streaming. Now I want something similar on my NAS ... an app which streams the mp3 file I select in the app (or in an remote app, that controls the app on the nas) to the receiver. Is there any app that can do this or do I have to code one myself?
