Hi there,
glad to be part of this community...
just got my AS-608T, started with a 1 x4T HDD on slot 1 with no RAID. Noticed a bug when i attempt to create a 2nd volume (with RAID 1) with 2 x 1.5TB HDD on slot 2 & 3, went through the volume creation process without errors, but volume was not created. Had to restart the unit 2 times and eventually volume 2 was successfuly created. Anyone had the similar issue? Running on the latest firmware.
Already reported this to the tech support as a bug, so just sharing my experiences.
Cheers,
Alan

Re: Hi from Singapore with AS-608T
Hi Alan,
I created a Raid 1 volume first on slot 1 & 2 and later I changed to slot 1 & 3. I had no problems with the volume creation process - only performance issues because of my first choice.
What I didn't know was that slot 1 & 2 as well as slot 3 & 4 share 1 I/O chip! So this was the reason for my performance bottle neck. But as you chose 2 & 3 you will not run into those difficulties...
... assuming that on your AS-608 machines the I/O chip allocation is the same

thanks for sharing this.. i wasn't even aware that slot 1 & 2 (3&4 or 5&6 for that matter)are sharing the same I/O chip! Perhaps you can enlighten me how does this cause performance bottlenecks? Are they significantly slower?
Thanks.
