Help with Linux

Post by dmtparker »

I bought the AS1002T v2 specifically because it was recommended as being 'Linux friendly' but I'll be damned if I can get it to talk to my Linux box (running Mx-19) Any help appreciated before I return this and try something different.

I use (lot of) of Linux box with my different NAS ... Please explain what you want to do ?
"I can get it to talk to my Linux box" is not enough to have a chance to help you .

Philippe.
NB remember that APKG (Asustor Package) can extend the Asustor delivery (ex. Entware adding more than 2000 Linux packages including full GNU tools (compare to the busybox (adapted for NAS) used by Asustor), and lot of other APKG provide more and more tools ... )

I want to do two things with my NAS:
1) Use it for nightly backups of my Linux box (I have used luckyBackup, but I'm not tied to it)
2) Use it as a storage for all my music to be accessed by my Raspberry Pi with DAC running Volumio (which specifically works with NAS if I can get it to find it and get the necessary permissions sorted out)
Right now, I cannot even get my NAS and Linux box to talk to each other. I actually DID get ftp to work and transferred my music to the NAS manually, but cannot get any sort of automated backup working. I suspect it is a simple issue of getting them to find each other, but so far, no luck (pun intended).
Any help GREATLY appreciated.

Hi,

You are true, post any different problem on specific forum or sub-forum, ex. for Backup in utilities or in backup & data protection viewforum.php?f=45

For my own for my data, I used Syncthing ... but other solution based on rsync can exist in the delivery, I assume that luckyBackup can use a Rsync server, so configure it in Asustor webUI icon services

As I know, but perhaps it's false, volumio wait for an UPnp-DLNA server available in the network ... so you can get multiples solutions in AppCentral (like "Upnp media server v2" from Asustor but others are available ... )

BUT as I write before, I am not a specialist on this domain, I use raspberryPI as a Kodi player and my preference is for using CIFS sharing to get full access to any contents in shared folder of my (multiple) NAS.

So I suggest you to open a specific post for each problem in subsequent forum and don't hesitate to join the Asustor support (open a ticket) if you have an example of a no working data link)

Philippe.
N.B. I don't see that your are new in the forum (I am in travel and not near my NAS) ... so welcome . :)
