I need file screen

Post by marin.stratev »

Hello,
i have AS7009RD and i want to make file screening for my organization. This means if some users example want to put on NAS *.bat or *.exe files the system can prohibit the users to do that. In Windows Server that is "File screening", is there a solution or application that can do this for me?
I have one Idea but i must try performance: Create a vhd file and store on NAS, and attach it to a Windows server like a local drive, share this drive to a network and using windows server file screening feature to control files.
Thanks in advance if someone help me with a any idea.

Hello Marin.stratev,

It isn't builtin to the Asustor ADM interface, but if you are familiar with Linux or are willing to learn, there is an option to achieve your goal. You could veto the extensions in the Samba config. You would need the winscp program and then modify smb.conf.

As I don't have access to my NAS right now, I can't check the exact location of smb.conf on the NAS. Be sure to make a backup of the current smb.conf!!!

I found an old post of mine, smb.conf should be in /volume0/usr/builtin/etc/samba.
