AS3302T access File Explorer credentials not accepted

Post by Bob Mc »

Just installed a new AS3302T (Raid1) and set up with ADM with no problems (this is the second ASUSTOR NAS so basically familiar with ADM and setup). Have static IP address; changed IP ports for both HTTP and HTTPS; new user with admin privileges; made original admin user inactive; etc. My desktop is wired (ethernet) to same LAN as the NAS.

Still running an older AS1002T with no problems.

Problem: while the NAS name shows up in Win10 File Explorer under Networks, when I click on the NAS to access it I'm asked for it's credentials but after entering username/password they are not accepted (tried several different UN PW combinations all showing under ADM Access. Cannot map the NAS for the same reason. Have tried following numerous internet recommendations with no change in ability to access. Both another desktop and a laptop wired via ethernet to same LAN can access the NAS. Obviously the problem is with my desktop.

Here's the links to the inet sites whose suggestions I've followed:
https://www.makeuseof.com/windows-enter ... g-settings
https://windowsreport.com/enter-network ... indows-10/

I've also changed the IP addresses (used several, all static) and the IP HTTP ports with no success.

Suggestions?

Re: AS3302T access File Explorer credentials not accepted

Just found the "cure!" In the ASUSTOR access app, by default the "Enable only NTLMv2 authentication" was enabled, and "Enable Local Master Browser" was NOT enabled. I compared the two ASUSTOR NAS's I'm running, and noticed the difference in the SMB file service section! Should have seen this three days ago!!! Not sure what those two things do, but now I'm able to access the NAS via File Explorer and can map the drive!

Hope this helps someone with the same issue.
