Configuration Migration

Post by mike@smithware.net »

I have seen a lot of posts related to the migration of disks from on NAS to another -

I am looking for any experiences/tips/tricks on migration apps and configurations from one Asustor to another.

I have bought a new device with larger drives (and an additional proc) and want to move my apps to the new device

I am running Plex Server, Couch Potato, Sonar, SABnzbdplus

I can move the data as needed, but I am not sure about the apps.

Can I do a backup of the config on the original and restore it on the new? Any thoughts?

Thanks, Mike

You can migrate whole NAS from an old one (asustor NAS) to a new one (asustor NAS):
  • Make sure ADM version is the latest one in the old NAS. Turn NAS off.
  • Simply move all of disks to new NAS, then turn the new NAS on.
  • Check App central to see if you need to upgrade apps (this action might reset app's configuration!!). You normally do not need this step if your old NAS and the new NAS are the same CPU type (for example, x86 64-bit CPU).

Orion - thanks, I had read that. My new NAS has disks already, however, much larger disks, so I don't think that would work....

Any other thoughts?

You can expand volume capacity (replace old disks to new disks one by one) after that: https://www.asustor.com/en-gb/online/Co ... ?topic=352
However it should take long time (several days).
