Best Video Chat Solution?

Post by Alvin »

Hi,

I am trying to set the living room TV with HDMI driven by AS6104T as the main video chat channel with my family far away. I prefer the quality of video chat to be HD 60fps or even Full HD 60fps

What I have found for now are two solutions:
1. Use VirtualBox and create a VM to run skype (https://www.asustor.com/admv2?type=2&su ... 102&lan=en). The website shows that USB2.0 ports are supported for Windows and USB3.0 for OSX & Linux.
The same website also says I need to install VirtualBox Extension Pack for USB2.0 devices and Virtual RDP.

I am confused now. Does it mean Windows VM only supports USB2.0 and Linux & Mac VM only support USB3.0? Is there any list of the compatible webcam models?
I checked Logitech website and here are some webcam candidates:
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/video/web ... ,9442,7076
However, I can't confirm which ones are compatible with VirtualBox VM.

2. Use vHangouts and supported webcam, Logitech C310 or Microsoft webcam LF2000, to video chat on ASUSTOR Portal.
The supported models look obsolete. Is there any other model that is supported by vHangouts, such as those on the latest Logitech list?

Thank you
Alvin
