AS6102T Hyper-V ready meaning

Post by erkki4 »

Hello,

I am considering buying AS6102T for home data backup, media server and possibly for Hyper-V VM storage.
I would like to know what does that virtualization support mean in NAS models technical details? Because AS6102T does have support for VMWare, Hyper-V and Citrix according to Asustor comparison table.

In theory, at least, I can use other NAS models as well for Hyper-V storage which don't have Hyper-V support if I use iSCSI target server and use my host computer as initiator.
And that way my Hyper-V VMs can use NAS as Hyper-V VM storage through my hosts iSCSI connection.
My Hyper-V host is Windows 10 and not sure if I could also use NAS SMB3 windows share as VM storage.

What additional support does that "Hyper-V ready" provide? Any experience about this?

I did not try Windows-10 for Hyper-V though SMB3. However I think iscsi should be a better choice for Hyper-V, because the performance should be better.
