Can't Get MacOS To Run On VirtualBox

Hey guys, I'm looking to build a game for iOS but I need a Mac machine to do so (Xcode). Part of the reason I bought a relatively powerful NAS was in the hope that I could accomplish this via a virtual machine, but I haven't had much luck so far.
I've tried multiple MacOS versions/images/configurations and have upgraded the RAM in my AS5304T (Nimbustor 4) to 4GB, but no matter what I try, I can not get any of them to boot.
If anyone's successfully using a Mac VM on a similar-specced NAS, is there any chance you could export an .ova/.ovf image which I could then import and it configures everything correctly for me? If it all works I'd be willing to pay for the trouble, I'm pretty desperate here!
If not, any assistance/guidance would still be appreciated
