Using Existing Hard Drives in New NAS

Post by fivestringer »

My old AS5002T got hit by lightning (via cable modem ethernet port). When I power on the NAS it does not boot; lights come on per usual; no Channel 1 ethernet (it got the lightning). Ethernet 2 apparently works (yellow led on steady, green blinks when connected to new router). I was on latest version of ADM at time of strike.

I pulled one of the disks out and looked at contents using EaseUS Data Recovery software, and all of my data appears to be there. Drives are 3TB Western Digital Reds.

My question: If I buy a new unit (like an AS1002T), and assuming drives/data are ok, if I plug in my existing drives to the new unit, will it boot?

Yes, that should work. After the new NAS is ready, you should check AppCentral. There should be some applications that you need to upgrade.
