New disks in NAS, how transfer data?

Post by SirMacke »

So, I have the AS1002T.
Today I have two 2TB drives in JBOD, or it is called standalone.

I will put two 3TB WD RED in RAID1.
Will I be able to remove the old ones, put in the new ones, configure the RAID1 and connect the old drives via the USB port and copy all back?

No, you cannot copy data back by this way. You'll need to backup your data to other place first. Then, reinitialize your NAS with 3TB disk * 2 (RAID-1). Copy data back after that.

Yuck, I do not have enough space anywhere to do this.
Perhaps if I pack everything on one 2TB, it might work.
