Backing up to an external USB drive using date as target folder name

I am backing up critical folders from my Asustor 604T to an external USB drive every night. But to keep a history I would like to use the current date in the target folder name, so that for example the last three backups would be named like this:

Backup 2016-08-01 \ ...
Backup 2016-08-02 \ ...
Backup 2016-08-03 \ ...

I can't get it to work, in Windows you would normally specify %DATE% in the path, but that option is not viable here. Anyone else having the same issue / requirment or suggestion how to solve it?
