(SOLVED) NAS showing uninitialized

Post by yogs »

Hi,

I have got AS606T.

I took out 1 drive today from my NAS while running. It was dirty in the front grill, so I cleaned it.
Since 1 was dirty, I took rest 5 drives, one after other and cleaned them all.

After I put in all the drives, the system is not recognized anymore.
Control center says NAS is Uninitialized.

I had RAID 5 setup, and initializing it as new would mean that I loose all the data (if I am correct).

Please HELP!!!!
what can i do...

cheers
Yogs

Oops, you did a wrong action. RAID-5 can only afford one drive failure. That should be all right if you took one drive out. NAS will rebuild RAID system when you put it back. But it should take several hours to complete the job.
You took the other disks when system is running (multiple disk failures). :o You'd better to send a support request to asustor to see if they can help you recover your data!

I raised a ticket and one of the support engineers help me rebuild the system, without loosing any data.

I am very happy with the support. I would take care to turn off the NAS before taking disks out next time.
