Sync data from Seed box to NAS using RSYNC

Postby mgcan » Sat Apr 13, 2013 11:51 pm

Hi Guys,

I want to know how I can sync data from seedbox (Whatbox) to NAS(AS604T) using RSYNC. Whatbox has rsync capability.

I will appreciate if somebody can share any tutorial or step by step process.

Thanks,

mgcan

Try the backup tutorials here - http://www.asustor.com/online/College?lan=en

Not tried them myself but a couple I looked at looked ok - I got rsynch to work first time from a couple of other boxes without help - its a matter of putting the right details in and it should just work.

I have never use Seed Box before so not sure how to set up the rsync job. I just googled it and found this:
https://whatbox.ca/wiki/rsync
And it seems like you will need to have some CLI knowledge to make this works.

However, I also noticed that it also supports FTP so perhaps you may wanna give it a try:
https://whatbox.ca/wiki/File_Downloading_and_Uploading

Therefore, perhaps you can try to create a FTP backup job in [Backup & Restore] > [FTP Backup], select "FTP Server -> Your NAS" and refer to the instructions in the link above: (or refer to the attached screenshot)
You can also set up the schedule for it so that your NAS will fetch data from whatbox periodically.
