ASUSTOR AS5004T no longer turns on. need to recover data (RAID 5 on 4 disks)

Post by infonmeyer »

Hi there,

New to the group, I'm calling for HELP! because my NAS ASUSTOR AS5004T does not turn on anymore!!!

I have 4 hard drives in RAID 5 (4X6TB), and I would like to recover the data.

How can I do? I put them in another NAS, and I recovered my data?

I found a second-hand ASUSTOR AS5002T NAS, do you think I can put the AS5002T motherboard in my AS5004T NAS?

Thanks for your feedback,

I hope you can save my life! :)

Probably the power brick is faulty? Check it with a multimeter.

You can load the disks onto another PC (spare sata ports or enclosure) running Linux or boot off a Live USB, install mdadm if it hasn't been installed. Once done the RAID 5 array should auto assembled then mounted which you can transfer them on to another location.

You don't need to swap the board, just transfer the disks over to the other Asustor NAS then boot it up. You should be able to see your data.
