Can't migrate disks to new NAS

Post by geofbuck »

Old NAS AS-608T with 8 HDD in RAID5 was migrated to AS-7110T. Worked as expected when drives inserted and ADM updated to 4.0 latest. NAS failed after 1 hour with suspected bad power supply. Unit was returned and replacement arrived but when I swapped the drives in it only gives me the option to INITIALIZE disks. I am at a loss as to what to do now! I tried to put the drives back in the old AS-608T but on ADM 3 it won't recognize the RAID now and just wants to initialize the drives as well. Can anyone give me advice on what to do to recover my original RAID volume? Thanks!

I think you can try to use another empty disk to initialize the new NAS (or the old AS-608T) and update ADM to the latest one. After that, turn NAS off, put all of your old disks to the new NAS, the turn it on.
