RECOVER FILES AFTER DEADBOLT ENCRYPTION ON ASUSTOR NAS RAID 1

Post by givbra »

Recover some or any files after Deadbolt encryption on an Asustor NAS drive RAID 1 with the help of a data recovery software like R-Studio that supports Linux file system partitions ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4K21oUmIbL8

All of the files on Asustor were encrypted. R-Studio restored 26,5 GiB (28 475 070 195)
27 348 files, 50 sub-folders, most of the content of the files was intact, although most of the names of the original files were lost ... Not all files were restored, but these are quite good to start with anew ...

I haven't tested the network option of R-Studio but eventually as it is written it requires additional R-Studio Agent, R-Studio Agent Portable or R-Studio Agent Emergency (it needs hardware access) to be installed on the remote host (in our case Asustor) in order to make the connection from the PC we are operating from ... I do not know whether this is possible on Asustor, more information here:
https://www.r-studio.com/DataRecovery_o ... work.shtml

"You may also add RAID5 components manually, if R-Studio cannot automatically identify some of them":

Good luck! ;)

Hi,

Is it possible for us to copy encrypted files to computer and decrypt them? Do we have to use the disk attached to the nas?

This tutorial is not about decrypting files but recovering deleted/damaged files after Deadbolt encryption on Asustor NAS.
Decrypting requires a really powerful super computer and specialized software or the key to decrypt the files ...
