WARNING on new ADM 4.0.4.RQO2

Post by Egosumquisum »

!!!!!WARNING!!!!!

Yesterday I opened a ticket @ asus tech support
My question:
After deadbolt I've disconnected NAS from the internet but I did not restart it as it seems this can cause several problems.
Now Asus has released ADM 4. that seems to be patched
BUT
My NAS is still showing the deadbolt page, how can I install the new ADM?
Is it enough to get back the original home page with the "putty" workaround already described in the forum?
And how one can get rid of all the crypted files? (Happily I have redundant backups of my NAS)
Is it enough to reset to fabric through the option in ADM?

!!!!! ASUS ANSWER !!!!!
good day

For the moment this new firmware is only reserved for NAS that have not been affected by Deadbolt.
we will get back to you as soon as possible and communicate soon on other methods to solve the critical issue

Did you try it (which shows in the middle of the anchor page https://www.asustor.com/en-gb/knowledge ... oup_id=630):

Code: Select all

If the ransomware page remains after you connect to a network:

  * Please turn off your NAS, remove all hard drives and reboot.
  * When the initialization page appears, reinsert the hard drives.
  * Please follow the instructions above to update your NAS.
PS: I cannot not try this procedure as my NAS is just fine.

Follow the instructions in the link, it is for deadbolt infected NAS devices

I got that ransomware screen originally and then got the initialize screen as well. Then I went through the instructions given here on updating without initializing and my system is backed up I think apps are gonna have to be replaced but it was able to recognize my myarchive discs so I can replace those directories that were dead bolted.
