I have an odd 3TB HDD for some backup, can I use a 3rd bay?

I'm getting an AS6604T here next week and will start with 2 x 8TB WD Reds. I have a 3TB Red from an old setup that I have in a USB bay I use for some backup (I had an AS5102T.)

So is it possible to create a separate volume, or share, in one of the extra bays with that 3TB HDD so that I can do backups faster but still separate from my (initial) RAID1 share? And then just maybe even be able to eject that 3rd bay so I can keep the disk off-site if I want?

Simply setup the 3rd bay as MyArchive function.
