HDD capacity at 15.87 TB instead of 20 TB.

Post by RickyJ »

Hi. I have the Asustor AS-204TE which has 4 HDD bays. I had two 10TB HDDs in it, set up as RAID1 and recently added an extra two 10TB HDDs. I migrated to RAID5 and after many days, I still only had about 400GB of free space. I saw a button that said something like "expand capacity" so clicked on that and and watched the capacity gradually rise. However, it stopped at 15.87TB with 7.27 TB free rather than the 20TB and 10.4 TB free that I was expecting. Did something go wrong? All drives appear as "good" and "healthy".

Depends on your disk size. If it's 10TB each (normally the size is less), the volume size should be near to 19TB (ADM consume something internally). You can send a support request to asustor to check if it's correct or not.
