Can Asustor mount NFS hard disk from another NAS?

Post by rvmeush »

I am retiring my old HP Mediasmart server that died and just purchased a new AS3204T. I plan to install two new hard disks in the Asustor to get started. I would like to know if I can install a hard disk from the Mediasmart server into the Asustor so that I can copy files to the new disks. My understanding is that the Mediasmart disks use the NFS file system, and it would be great if I could copy from the old disk to the new disk without having to use an external USB dock.

Or, is there some way I can "convert" the old Mediasmart disks so I can install them in the Asustor NAS and retain the existing files?

Any expert suggestions would be very welcome.

Thanks.

As far as I know, no, you cannot achieve it from UI. But I believe you can mount it manually through command line, then copy files. You can "ssh" to NAS with root account (the same password as admin).
