HDD shows inactive when I upgrade the volume

Post by terryamk »

I am using AS-202TE with raid1 2*4TB HDD and I have tried to upgrade to 8TB:
1. I have replace Disk 1 with 8TB and then it rebuild automatically.
2. When it finished, I replace Disk 2 with another 8TB but it shows it's inactive and no rebuild is in progress.

What should I do now?
If I remove the volume, will everything be there because it's RAID1?
I have tried put back the original Disk 2 back but it's also inactive.

Thanks a lot

When I shut it down and switch on again, it shows my machine is uninitialized! Everything will be erased!

Is my machine going to die?

I believe you data should be fine. However I'm not sure why NAS is not rebuilding your RAID-1 volume without detailed log. I'll recommend you to send a support request to asustor. They can gather more detailed log remotely. https://support.asustor.com/

Thanks Orion

As I urgently need the data back, so I choose to initialize the machine and restore from my previous backup.

I have contacted Asustor and they suggest to let them have remote access and check. I think I will do it if I have time.

Thanks again

I have faced excatly the same issue when I upgraded my current 1TB drives with 4TB. Any solutions for that inactive issue?
