MKVToolNix

Post by renocz »

Hi Guys,

In our french forum, one of the member asked for a tool to reencode mkv from the nas and we found out MKVToolNix.
https://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/

It seems that one of this forum made it:
http://optware.kupper.org/asustor-i686/ ... 1_i686.ipk
http://optware.kupper.org/asustor-x86_6 ... x86_64.ipk

Thomas, if you are here, your packages work perfectly! Many thanks :)

Our question is simple, Thomas, or something else, could you be able to update these packages to the last version 7.7.0 ?

Thank you very much :)

I'll give it a go but will maybe take a few weeks since it's getting warmer (less time in front of a computer) and me working 100%. And the requirements changed a bit and I don't know yet how much work it will be to get them to work. Most notably the boost library, the others shouldn't be much of problem.

If it makes sense to use a cpu-limited NAS to convert media files it another topic ;)

Cheers

Hey,

I have update MKVToolNix to 7.7.0 and the necessary libraries (boost 1.46.1, libEBML 1.3.1, libMatroska 1.4.2). optware.kupper.org contains these files. To get them you have to run "ipkg update" and then "ipkg install mkvtoolnix".

I have tested mkvextract and mkvinfo but I'm sure you know better ways to test it.

Cheers

IPKs are Optware packages. Optware is package manager used to install application on NAS using the command line by login using SSH or Telnet. And therefore this mkvtoolnix is only useful when used from the command line.

The Optware package can be found in the app store but as mentioned before it's used to install application on the command line.

I don't understand your question, what do you mean when you write 'automation'?

I still don't understand: "terminal of the user"?
However it's an Optware package and as such it won't get a GUI - I just updated the package per request. A GUI needs a display and it runs on a NAS which doesn't have one.

Everyone is of course free to compile it them self with GUI support, on the gihub page of Optware it can be found how to do that.
