So, I did a bit of more testing for using Optware on the NAS itself : Not yet ready. Something I skipped over when I compiled Perl came back haunting me. Have to fix that first. Your best bet is Ubuntu 12.04 in a VM - and please install 12.04. That's the only version I can guarantee to work. Newer versions may have incompatible tools/libraries.
