I have developed Pixette: An iOS application to turn your old iPad into a photo frame for your NAS. I'm sure this might interest Asustor users

Features:

• Connects to your NAS or cloud storage (via WebDAV protocol) to display all your photos and videos.
• Generates a random slideshow of all your memories.
• Displays on-screen information such as clock, folder name, photo time and location (EXIF).
• Movie Boost Mode: Bring your slideshow to life by displaying videos more frequently.
• Sleep Mode: For a peaceful night's sleep.
• Improves image quality with a set of automatic filters.
• Compatible with older devices running iOS 9.3.5 or higher.

If you get a little creative, you can turn your old iPad into a nice picture frame: I simply built a wooden frame for my iPad and hung it in the living room. It wows our friends!
