【Newsletter#133】M.2 Storage Now Available in ASUSTOR NAS Devices

Post by Carrie.Y@AST »

The Lockerstor series now fully support M.2 volumes. In addition to SSD caching, storage volumes can now be created inside M.2 drives. Create an ultra-high-speed storage volume as well as increase total amount of storage your NAS can handle while creating an easy-to-use. Creating an M.2 storage volume is the exact same as creating a hard drive volume and only needs a few steps. M.2 volumes can be integrated as a RAID array or as separate volumes while also supporting Btrfs and Ext4, bringing maximum flexibility to M.2 volumes.

Creating an M.2 SSD volume brings even more functionality to an ASUSTOR NAS than ever before. Content creators will love the expanded speed when editing audio and video files on the M.2 SSD volumes while mobile gamers will find that creating an iSCSI volume in the M.2 SSDs enables the ability to install games directly to the iSCSI volume on a NAS and are playable directly from a gaming laptop. Since many games exceed 50-100 GB, this enables tens or hundreds of games to be installed without having to uninstall games to make way for new ones. With the addition of M.2 SSD storage, total storage of an ASUSTOR NAS has been increased although to maintain speed, hard drive bays and M.2 slots cannot be combined in a RAID array.
