With higher-than-ever-quality of photos and videos accessible to the mainstream, capacities for public cloud services are gradually becoming less and less useful. Public cloud providers have seen this opportunity to launch paid services which cost money per month perpetually. To build a 2 TB private cloud, a two bay NAS with two 2TB hard drives would be cheaper than three years of 2 TB of public cloud services as well as more protected as the NAS does not require Internet to connect and is protected against failures and outages with RAID technology.
