Hi,
A new setup:
Asustor AS5304T (Nimbustor) ADM 4.0.0.RN53
Surveillance Centre 2.8.1.12393
Reolink E1 Pro Cameras (connected via generic onvif)
RTSP camera streaming from mobile phone
On the PC using the surveillance app:
Cameras added fine, (No PT function or motion etc.) Can add as onvif or User Defined RTSP
Live view works from camera or from surveillance centre
The recordings are fine on the hard disk
However, if I go to the playback page, the time selector bar at the bottom shows green where there is video available but if I try and play the video the play button flips straight back to pause and won't play.
I CAN view the recordings on the AI Secure App fine.
I can view the recordings using file expolorer and videolan etc.
I have tried different resolutions, frame rates, cameras, admin accounts, camera accounts and so on. I've run out of things to try.
Any suggestions VERY welcome as I have spent so many hours on this
Many Thanks
Nick

Re: Cannot playback on PC
Got a pretty generic reply from Asustor support after some investigations...
Hi Nicolas,
Thanks for the reply.
For the issue mentioned, we do find there is issue with the video playback in current Surveillance Center app.
The issue was reported to our engineer team and they are doing their best to repair it.
We'll have a software upgrade to resolve this issue in the future.
My apology for the inconvenience.
Please don't be hesitate to contact if you got further question.
I tried the latest version but no change.
I did think it may have been because I was storing the video from cameras on a different share to the default 'Surveillance' share. (I had to do this to move it to a robust NVR hard drive). ADM wouldn't let me move the Surveillance share as it 'was in use by 1. NVR". To move the 'Surveillance' share to the new drive I had to uninstall (not just stop) Surveillance Centre then move the share then reinstall.
Still didn't fix the issue though
Nick

Re: Cannot playback on PC
Well - Another great response to a problem by Asustor....
Here's a snip from the lastest ADM update release note:
"Surveillance Center, after upgrading to ADM 4.0, will no longer support local display mode."
So basically, after 4.0 you cannot view the footage you have recorded using survellance station on their own app.
(and you cannot roll back to 3.x where it did work)
Did they not test this before 4.0 was released????
I used to be a software engineer with a multinational hardware company. If I had release software that didnt perform one of teh basic functions it was designed for I would have been fired!
Why oh why did I buy Asustor appalling slow support, unreliable hardware, buggy software.....rant over!

Re: Cannot playback on PC
I may have found the cause....
I did 2 things and then it STARTED WORKING
I deleted the Let's Encrypt certificates so that just the default Asustor one remained and then turned off Settings\General\"Automatically change http connections to https"
Then it worked and I could view recordings.
I turned on "Automatically change http connections to https" and it still works - so I guess it's to do with the certificates.
Hope this helps others
Nick
